Classics Reproductions, USA

I think this is the most monochrome I could have gone for today... thanks to George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Abraham Lincoln, featured on this set of 6 stamps issued in 2016 and thanks to Bryon for his long-lasting partnership in "mail crimes" :))

At Sunday Stamps you can see more monochromatic beauties.

  1. I like those infrequent reproduction stamps we see issued from time to time. The graphic designs are so different from today.

  2. Me too, I like reproductions of old stamps to give a vintage touch to the letters we sent. But, on the other hand... What's the point of issuing former kings/presidents on nowadays stamps?

  3. In the US, as of a 2018 regulation, no living person could be depicted on a postage stamp so there’s one reason anyway that only past personalities could be honored on stamps. I wonder if that’s similar in many other nations or not?

  4. Yes that's the USA regulation. Not true for some other countries. I like the old fashioned look also.

  5. I haven't come across an official statement about it, but so far, no living person has been depicted on Macedonian stamps... And I know Spain for sure does not issue stamps with living people portrayed :D

Off the top of my head, Serbia, Finland, Switzerland, Bosnia, Canada... do have stamp issues with people of nowadays... if I try harder, I would probably think of a few more to be added to this list... contributions are welcome :)

  6. Great Britain also has living non royal people on their stamps. as has Australia and NZ.
If yours didn't have the Forever on them I would have thought they were old!

  7. At first glance I thought these were old, I quite like them, classic designs. Its only this century that GB has living people on stamps and so far just sports and entertainers as I think they are the ones that make money.
